A prominent Southern Kaduna group, Tinubu/ Uba Leadership Network (TULN), has issued a strong warning to opposition figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over what it described as a growing campaign of misinformation and character assassination targeted at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
The group, in a press statement signed by its state secretary, Charity Alex, and Director of Political Intelligence and Strategy, Damian Friday, accused certain PDP loyalists of engaging in “desperate political tactics” aimed at misleading the public and destabilising the progress of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
TULN particularly took aim at Edward John Auta, a PDP stalwart and former chairmanship aspirant in Kaduna state, whose recent public statements they described as inciting, unsubstantiated, and ethically irresponsible.
They noted that Auta’s recent press conference which questioned the religious identity of the Kaduna State Head of Service and casted doubts on the credibility of infrastructural projects in Kagarko was riddled with falsehoods and deliberately framed to stir ethnic and religious tensions.
He stressed that Auta’s attempts to discredit road projects in Kagarko LGA by circulating doctored images online called for investigation from security agencies.
“You can’t fight Tinubu and Uba Sani by day and seek favour by night. Aligning with propagandists like Auta only widens the gap between the opposition and the people they claim to represent.”
Dismissing claims of religious bias in Kaduna state, the group clarified that Mrs. Jummai Bako, a Christian from Kachia, remains the serving Head of Service, calling on security agencies to investigate the trend of politically motivated disinformation.
“Spreading lies for political relevance is not opposition; it is a threat to peace and national cohesion. This is not just political mischief. it borders on incitement and must be treated as a national security concern,” TULN stated.
TULN further warned that it will expose the sponsors and collaborators behind what it described as “a coordinated propaganda campaign” against the Tinubu-led administration, and vowed to mobilize grassroots resistance against misinformation.
“We will name names if this continues. Nigerians deserve facts, not fiction,” the statement added.
They also commended Governor Uba Sani for his strides in restoring traditional institutions to their original status, a move it said reversed the “damage” done under the previous administration.
The group also backed the Kaduna state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) for publicly debunking viral claims alleging the governor approved N4.6 billion for vehicles for local council chairmen.
“That claim was false, malicious, and designed to discredit a governor who has prioritized fiscal discipline,” said Rebekah Shehu, TULN’s deputy state coordinator.
